{Ragnar Relay: I Think I’m Insane}

August 3, 2012

Did I tell you I signed up for the DC Ragnar Relay? Yep, sure did. And guess who I also signed up? Oh yea, my husband. HA, SUCKER!!! 🙂 I thought it would be a really great way for us to stay in shape and do something fun together. What I did not realize prior to signing us up for said relay is that I would be eating and sleeping in a van, running in the middle of the night, running on trails through rural Maryland by myself, and running three days in a row. Yep, I signed up for the Ragnar really having no idea what the Ragnar was. Go ahead, you can say it, “Idiot!”

That being said I’ve started training now for the Relay, which happens to be September 21. Yep, its August. I just started training. Seriously, what’s wrong with me? I mean I’m going to be sleep deprived, running in the middle of the night, on trails, and I just started training. I don’t understand me sometimes. Andrew has been training for his Sprint Tris for months, so he is in amazing shape. As a matter of fact he just got 11th place in his age group (the hardest age group within Sprint Tris) and 66th overall. So yea homeboy shouldn’t have any type of problem. The problem here dear friends is this chick. Good thing they gave me some of the shortest and easier legs of the race. I think they probably knew I was a slacker. OH you should also know that everyone on my team (including the women) put down a sub 8:00 pace. Ummm what?!?! I’m totally going to bring this team down. I almost feel sorry for them that they let me join. “Oh hey guys, don’t mind me. Just running my 9:38 pace up this hill.” Sweet mother of all things holy. Anyhoooo, just thought I would let you know that there may be a bit of Ragnar blogging happening round these parts in the very near future (read: every single day). Wish me luck and hey if you happen to be anywhere between Cumberland, Maryland and the National Harbor, September 21 – 22 make sure you stop and check on that chick laying on the side of the road. That’s me. I’ve passed out. I’m just waiting for the van to come and pick me up.

Wish me luck!

Thanks Ash 🙂 We’ll see. They’ll either cheer me on or be totally pissed that I’m ruining their overall time. *laughing* 🙂
