It’s already April…and the second week of April. My goodness this year is just flying by. It was a balmy 92 here yesterday (rolling my eyes), so much for Spring huh? I won’t complain though because I truly LOVE the heat. Folks say the further I get into this pregnancy I might change my mind, I just say bring it on! 🙂
This Thursday I am super thankful for all of the support I’ve received from my family and friends surrounding this pregnancy. I was overwhelmed with the love I received on Facebook. My friends truly are some of the coolest people out there. And it wasn’t just folks I’m friends with now, it was EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE.
I truly am a lucky lady. Let me just put it to you this way, I received flowers from my boss just because she was thinking of me this past week. Not because she had to send them, or because she felt obligated, but because we truly are friends. Whether or not I continue my career at the paycheck place I know that she and I will continue our friendship. She has a heart of gold and I’m lucky we were “paired up” when my team was transferred.
And I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing my family has been. My mother came up and spent a few days with me, made me dinner, brought me magazines, pampered me. My in-laws brought over dinner. My neighbor dropped off a care package….I just realized you guys have no idea why anyone would be doing so much for me in my first trimester, lol.
Well, here goes some over sharing. On Thursday of last week (hence the lack of a Thankful Thursday post) I had an outpatient surgery to have a cervical cerclage put in. I’ll give you a second to Google that….back? Okay, so essentially it’s a stitch they place in the cervix to close it up & keep it from shrinking and tricking your body into thinking it’s time to go into labor waaaay too early in your pregnancy. It involves a spinal, eeeekkkk, and no activity (like NOTHING) for a few days while your body recovers.
The thing is, I don’t get nervous. I truly don’t. But I was just, I don’t know, worried. I know that nothing in this world ever goes according to plan. Life never goes according to plan. So when the surgery took a little longer than expected, I ended up with two stitches instead of one, had to get a catheter put in, I got a UTI, I couldn’t go to the bathroom (I mean LOADS of fun everyone), I really wasn’t surprised. But I was worried. And my family and friends came to the rescue. However, all is well now and I’m feeling great, and THAT’S the most important part.
And now you know why everyone has been sending a tad more love & energy my way than some of you would suppose is necessary. 🙂
So yes, this week I am beyond thankful for the support and love that’s been shown to me by my family and friends over the past few days. I’m surrounded by some pretty awesome people and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What about you? What are you thankful for this fine Thursday?
