General Life

{Thankful Thursday: August 15, 2013}

It’s Thursday again, happens every week, same time, same place. Yet, it always seems to “sneak up” on me. How is that even possible? I just find that a week pushes forward so quickly that I barely remember Monday. I think that’s because I’ve had lots of visitors this week. Folks have been keeping me super busy {and by super busy I mean keeping me company while I lay on the couch}. So I’m of course thankful to everyone who has been popping in, spending some time with me, sending me texts, emails, etc. I’m extra thankful this week to my mother-in-law and her neighbors.

I’ve mentioned before how lucky I am to have in-laws that are more like family than they are “in-laws.” They have always treated me as if I’ve been part of the family forever and there really haven’t been many awkward moments in the entire time I’ve been with Andrew. This week though, my mother-in-law {and her neighbors} have gone above and beyond. They started making me dinners y’all! I mean straight up homemade dinners, complete with dessert.

On Monday, my MILs neighbor made breaded chicken cutlets, orzo salad, spring mix salad, and homemade blueberry pie with ice cream. THEN, the next day she made tortellini soup with rosemary bread. THEN, last night my MIL brought over barbecue chicken, with potatoes au gratin, and dreamsicle salad for dessert. Talk about making my life {and my aching back and legs these days} 1,000 times easier. While I don’t mind whipping something together for Andrew and I, it’s getting harder and harder for me to stand in the kitchen and put something together for the time that’s required to make dinner. Honestly, once I finish cooking, I’m exhausted and ready for bed. I know, I know, lazy pregnant lady alert. But, I really am.

It’s been just wonderful to be showered with such generosity. I really don’t know how I’ve been so lucky and blessed to be surrounded by copious amounts of love, thoughtfulness, and selfless individuals. The Big Guy seems to really be looking out for Baby McBailey and me. So, today, my Thankful Thursday is dedicated to my MIL and her awesome neighbors. I don’t know how I’ll repay them, but until then I am forever grateful.

What about you, what are you thankful for this Thursday?
